Born in Victoria in 1918, Howard Taylor studied in the UK. A painter, sculptor, graphic artist, he also taught art while in Perth. In World War II he was a prisoner of war, and later worked in the UK before returning to Perth. He was commissioned to make murals and sculptures for public buildings in Perth and Fremantle. Taylor was awarded the West Australian Arts Council fellowship in 1975.
