Born in Western Australia in 1907, Allon Cook attended art classes at Fremantle Technical School and spent two years at the Perth School of Art. He was elected a member of the West Australian Society of Arts in the late 1920s and in 1931 Allon Cook together with Cuthbert Downie held an exhibition in the Perth School of Art studio. Predominantly a landscape artist, Allon Cook also painted shipping and harbour scenes as well as steam locomotives, urban night scenes and native flower studies. He won the Hotchin prize for oil in 1950, 1951 and 1958. A retrospective exhibition of his work was held in the Cremorne Art Gallery in 1971.

We have records of art auction sales by Allon Cook from 1981 and in total 101 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 76 (75%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $8,625 for Upper Reaches of the Swan sold by GFL Fine Art in December 2012. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Allon Cook are held by the Art Gallery of Western Australia and National Gallery of Australia.
