Born in London in 1944, migrated to Australia with his family in 1959 and studied at the East Sydney Technical College in 1960 and 1961 prior to returning to London to study at the Sutton School of Art and the Wimbledon College of Art from 1961 to 1965. An abstract artist, he first exhibited at the Contemporary Art Society in Sydney between 1965 and 1972. Since then he has exhibited in over 25 solo exhibitions and numerous group shows. Roy Jackson died in Wedderburn, NSW in 2013 and a touring exhibition Roy Jackson - Retrospective 1963–2013 , opened at the ANU Drill Hall Gallery, Canberra in 2013.
