About Edward La Trobe Bateman
Architect, book illuminator, landscape artist and draughtsman, Edward Bateman was born in Derbyshire, England in 1816. He arrived in Melbourne in 1852. worked in Victoria during the gold rush as an artist and landscape architect. He returned to permanently England in 1868.
