About Jack Nightingall
Born in Tasmania in 1909, Jack Nightingall moved to New Zealand at the age of 11. He spent most of World War II in prison as a military defaulter. During the 1950s he settled in Wanganui, working as a photographer and also practising as a hypnotist. He is said have become a recluse in later life and destroyed many of his own paintings.
The total number of works by Jack Nightingall offered for sale by auction since 2000 is 18, of which 10 (56%) were sold. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2001.
