Born in Invercargill, New Zealand in 1914, Alison Duff studied in Christchurch at the Canterbury School of Art and East Sydney Technical College from where she graduated in 1938. She taught art in both Australia and New Zealand A modernist sculptor, she worked in wood, stone, bronze, brass copper and concrete and exhibited with the Auckland Society of Arts, the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in 1934 and 1967 and The Group, based in Christchurch in 1968.
