Born in Melbourne in 1909, Geoffrey Jones studied under George Bell and in Paris and is a painter of flowers and still life in oils. He firstly exhibited in Melbourne in 1939, but his career was interupted by World War II where he served with the British Army in Europe. The AASD lists two sombre British wartime paintings presumably by Geoffrey Jones, in the absence of another artist with that name. He injured during the war was repatriated back to Australia in 1946 and in that year he resumed exhibiting, in Melbourne, and then in Sydney and Adelaide in the following years.
