Born in Denmark in 1898, Ami Karina studied art in Copenhagen and London before moving to Australia with her husband in the early 1920s. She worked in Sydney as a designer and freelance artist for the 'Sydney Mail'. She exhibited her paintings and pen and ink drawings regularly with the Royal Art Society, Society for Women Painters, and others. Her most productive time was from 1924 until her return to Europe in 1933. Her paintings are signed either 'Ami K' or 'Ami Z'.
