Born in the United States of America in 1943, Bashir Baraki was an art teacher in Honolulu before migrating to New Zealand in 1966, and moving to Melbourne in 1977. Known for his paintings of religious subjects using mixed media and collage, he had several commissions to paint icons for churches. Baraki held solo exhibitions in Australia from 1979.
