Margaret Coupe (nee Tarlton) was born in Russell, Northland (New Zealand), 1922. A ceramic mosaic artist she worked for almost thirty years in the small town of Kaikohe in Northland. She exhibited with the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in 1973. The New Zealand Mosaic Association annually jusge the entries for the The Margaret Coupe Award, named after the artist.
