About Tom Risley
Born in Rockhampton, Queensland in 1947, Tom Risley is a sculptor who has had no formal art training. He has held solo shows of his work in Townsville, Brisbane and Sydney since 1982 and in Tokyo in 1988. Risley's work is represented in institutional collections in Australia and overseas. He received a Visual Arts Board grant in 1984.
The total number of works by Tom Risley offered for sale by auction since 1996 is 38, of which 26 (68%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $12,122 for Untitled 2001 sold by Goodmans Auctioneers in March 2003. This year one work has been offered for sale. Works by Tom Risley are held by the Queensland Art Gallery, National Gallery of Australia and a further four major public national galleries (see list below).
