Born in Ashburton, New Zealand in 1937, Robert McDowell studied at Canterbury and Otago Universities. A graphic designer and painter, he has painted professionally since 1972. From 1976 he has won numerous awards including the Kelliher Award, Ashbuton Trust Awrd, Montana Art Award, Beecham Research Award, Michael Matter Award and the David Watt Ford Award. His works are represented in numerous public collections.
We have records of art auction sales by Robert McDowell from 1996 and in total 92 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 68 (74%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $5,090 for Moana Series sold by Dunbar Sloane in July 2010. This year one work has been offered for sale.
