Born in New South Wales in 1931, Gordon Rintoul studied in Sydney, Newcastle and in New York. A painter, teacher and critic, he has exhibited mostly in New South Wales regional centres, and held his first solo exhibition in Sydney in 1966. Rintoul has had several appointments lecturing in tertiary institutions in Sydney, Newcastle and New York.
