About H. Orlando Dutton
Born in the UK in 1894, Dutton was apprenticed to an architectural firm in England before enlisting in World War I. He migrated to Australia in 1920, eventually settling in Melbourne and working as a stone mason on the Shrine of Remembrance. He was commissioned to make sculptures for corporate and public buildings. Dutton was president of the Victorian Arts Society in 1946-1947 and worked hard to gain recognition for sculptors. He died by drowning in Melbourne in 1962.
