About Alfred Cook
Born in New Zealand in 1907, Cook studied at Canterbury University, New Zealand. He was primarily a landscape artist, working in watercolour, oil and acrylics. He moved to Sydney in 1934 and taught commercial illustration at the East Sydney Technical College from 1940. He was a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute.
The earliest auction listing we have for Alfred Cook is in 1973 and in total 96 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 71 (74%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $13,200 for Portrait of Albert Namatjira sold by Bonhams in June 2010.
