Born in Melbourne in 1900, Melville Haysom studied at the National Gallery School. He moved to Queensland in 1929 where he was to become painting instructor at the Brisbane Central Technical College. A member of the Victorian Art Society and the Royal Queensland Art Society, he is known for his portraits and landscapes, often tending toward the more abstract in style.
