Born about 1816 George Lacy arrived in Australia from London in 1842. A painter, illustrator, journalist and adventurer he travelled throughout New South Wales and Victoria recording aspects of life in the colonies. He wrote and illustrated articles for the 'Illustrated Sydney News'.
