About Douglas Roberts
Born in South Australia in 1919, Douglas Roberts was a painter and teacher. A lecturer at the South Australian School of Art, he was a foundation member of the South Australian branch of the Contemporary Art Society. He won numerous provincial art awards and is represented in the national and several state collections.
The earliest auction listing we have for Douglas Roberts is in 1985 and in total 105 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 60 (57%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $5,175 for Surrealist Landscape sold by Sotheby's in April 1998.
