Clem was born in the 1940's at Yampil rockhole in the Western Desert of Central Australia. As a young man he went to Warburton Mission school, then later got work on a station in Kalgoorlie mustering sheep and wild cattle, branding and fencing. He then moved to Kandali working in a sandlewood business. Clem returned to Irrunytju and helped build a road connecting Irrunytju to Tjuntjuntjarra. He has participated in group exhibitions since 2002, including the Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards in Darwin.
