About Janet Matthews
Janet Matthews was born in Moe, in country Victoria and chose to remain in country Victoria to complete her formal university training. After completing her studies, she moved to the North West of Western Australia, spending five years in the desert town of Port Hedland. She continued to draw as well as having her two daughters while there. From the isolated outback she managed to send work to exhibitions in Perth and Sydney as well as exhibit locally. After five years Janet and her family moved back to Victoria, settling in Melbourne where she had access to the galleries, art exhibitions and the wide range of art societies available.
