Born about 1910, Australian Aboriginal artist Alec Mingelmanganu began painting in the mid 1970s. He is known for his Wandjina (cloud and rain spirits) paintings from the Kimberley region of WA. His work has been widely exhibited and is represented in several state and regional collections.

We have records of art auction sales by Alec Mingelmanganu from 1997 and in total 33 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 24 (73%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $244,500 for Wandjina c. 1980 sold by Sotheby's in June 2002. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Alec Mingelmanganu are held by the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria and a further two major public national galleries (see list below).
