Born in Sydney in 1952, Patrick Shirvington participated in drawing class at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, Paris and studied at the University of New South Wales and was awarded a Master of Cross Disciplinary Art and Design Paris. He is a realist painter in oils and exhibits his work regularly in New South Wales and Canberra, and an accomplished children’s book illustrator. He has been a finalist in the Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing on four occasions and was a finalist in the Archibald Prize at the Art Gallery of NSW in 1999.
