Born in Murrumbeena, Victoria in 1923, Guy Boyd was known as a potter and sculptor. After extensive training in the family pottery conducted by his father, William Merric Boyd, he moved to Sydney and founded the Martin Boyd pottery. In 1965 he left the commercial pottery to become a full-time sculptor, holding his first exhibition in Sydney in 1966. He had over 20 exhibitions throughout Australia and London.
