About D. Con Hutton
Born in Scotland in 1843, David Hutton studied art before his appointment to establish the Dunedin School of Art in New Zealand in 1870. He exhibited his primitive wash drawings and watercolours with the Otago Art Society. Hutton died in 1910, and his work is represented in the Hocken Library.
Since 1970 we have recorded only one work being sold at auction by this artist, which was in 1994.
