About Arthur Collingridge De Tourcey
Born in England in 1853, Collingridge was staff artist for the "Illustrated London News", "Graphic", "Le Monde Illustre" and "L'illustration" before coming to Australia in 1877. In Australia he contributed to the "Illustrated Sydney Mail". He was a trustee of the Art Gallery of NSW and an art teacher, and with his brother George founded the Art Society of NSW.
We have records of art auction sales by Arthur Collingridge De Tourcey from 1971 and in total 40 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 20 (50%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $10,450 for Winter's Day, Sydney Harbour sold by Sotheby's in April 1986.
