Dani Marti was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1963 and arrived in Australia c1989. He studied at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney from 1990 to 1991 and then at the Art Students League, New York City in 1991 and 1992. He gained a Master of Arts at the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales, in 2000 and in 2006 he undertook a Master of Fine Arts at the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland. A painter, installation and video artist often working with fabrics, he has held solo exhibitions in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide Glasgow and Edinburgh since 2000, and his work has been shown in Casula Powerhouse, Werribee Park, Newcastle Art Gallery, Glasgow International Project Space, the Art Gallery of South Australia and Fremantle Art Gallery. He was a finalist in the Helen Lempriere Sculpture Award in 2001 and 2002 and he was selected for the Beijing Biennale in 2005. He has received major commissions for installations in public spaces in Sydney and Melbourne.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $14,760 for The last sins of St Francis: Scarring the Flesh - episode 3, 2003-4 sold by Bonhams in May 2022.
