Albert Rydge studied at the Meldrum School in Melbourne. A landscape artist, painting mainly in oil, he was a fellow of the Royal Art Society, Sydney. In 1939, 1949, 1950 and 1952 he was a Finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Wynne Landscape Prize and in 1942, 1949, 1951, 1952 and 1954 was a Finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize. He was awarded the Goulburn Prize in 1962. He died in 1971.
