Juan Ford was born in Melbourne in 1973 and was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting), RMIT University, Melbourne in 1998 and a Master of Arts (Fine Art) by research from the same institution in 2001. A super realist artist his first solo exhibition was in Melbourne in 1998 and since then has held over 34 exhibitions in the eastern state and provincial cities of Australia, and Hong Kongtaiwan and Venice. He has participated in over 170 group exhibitions to 2019. Amongst the awards, prizes and grants he has received are the Basil Sellers Art Prize, Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne in 2010 and four New Work Grants from the Australia Council for the Arts. He was also awarded an Australia Council for the Arts, Studio Residency in Rome in 2006 and an OMI International Arts Centre Residency in New York in 2011.
