About Ilena Rosa Daiken Stitchbury
A New Zealand artist born in 1898, Ilene Stitchbury studied art under Frank and Walter Wright; her work is similar in colour, style and subject matter to these artists. She has travelled widely, and in 1939 married the Canadian poet Laurence Dakin. Stitchbury also taught music for a time in Auckland at the Hilltop School for Girls.
