Born in Brisbane in 1940, Brian Malt is known mainly for his representational oil paintings, many of which are of horses. He was commissioned by race clubs nationally and internationally to paint famous racing scenes and horses. Some of his work is on display at race clubs including Toowoomba, Moonee Valley, Eagle Farm, Doomben, Tattersalls and at the Eagle Farm Racing Museum. He has exhibited in the eastern states since 1977, and has won a number of art prizes.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,130 for 'Chantilly Parade' sold by Davidson Auctions in December 2016.
