Born in Adelaide in 1948 Peter Griffin was director of Flight Gallery, South Australia. A teacher and painter and since his first exhibition in 1972 has had over 50 solo exhibitions throughout Australia and overseas. His paintings have been shown in the Sulman, Fleurieu, Blake, and Dobell Prize exhibitions and are in corporate, public and private collections, in particular a large number in the Macquarie University collection. In 2011 he won the Section B Musswellbrook Art Prize. His work has been critically assesed many times by Professor Sasha Grishin and recently Peter Griffen published a book on his work, In and Out of Abstraction.
