Born in Melbourne in 1941, Wendy Stavrianos was awarded a Diploma of Fine Art at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1961. A teacher and painter,she regularly exhibited in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane from the 1960s to the 2000s. The aftermath of Cyclone Tracy inspired her to produce a series of large environmental drawings on cloth which she exhibited at Tolarno Galleries in 1976. She taught at secondary and tertiary level from the 1960s to the 1990s.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $6,136 for Mind Doors 1975 sold by Leonard Joel in February 2022.
