Born in Singapore of Dutch and Ceylonese parents, Hugh Oliveiro studied at the National Art School and Sydney Technical College in Sydney in the 1960s. A ceramic artist, sculptor, stage designer and colourful modern painter, Oliveiro has exhibited in Melbourne and Canberra. He has received commissions in Australia and USA to design sets and costumes and to paint murals including the 'Four Seasons' entrance foyer mural at the Victorian Arts Centre, Melbourne.
We have records of art auction sales by Hugh Oliveiro from 1980 and in total 62 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 35 (56%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $5,060 for Sacred Fruit sold by Christies in August 1999. This year one work has been offered for sale.
