Born in Surrey, England in 1944, Robert Pengilley studiedat the Wimbledon School of Art in London and lectured in art before arriving in Australia in 1970. He settled in Canberra where he taught and exhibited his paintings from 1974. Pengilley has won several awards and travelling scholarships in the United Kingdom and Australia.
