Born in Melbourne in 1947, Ian Parry studied painting and printmaking in Melbourne and received a Bachelor of Art (Printmaking) from Prahran Art School . He taught art in secondary schools and sculpture at tertiary level until 1977. Parry held his first one man show in Melbourne in 1974 and now lives and works in Tasmania. He has been a finalist in several art prizes including the 2015 Lloyd Rees Art Prize in Hobart.
