Jack Britten, an Australian aboriginal artist, was born at Tickelara, in the east Kimberley. He worked as a stockman and road worker and in 1982 moved to Frog Hollow via Turkey Creek. He was taught to paint by his grandparents early in his life, using traditional methods and materials. He is best known for his depiction of the Bungle Bungles, the mountain range nearby to where he lived.
The total number of works by Jack Britten offered for sale by auction since 1994 is 252, of which 146 (58%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $82,750 for Purnu Lulu, the Bungle Bungles 1989 sold by Sotheby's in July 2005. This year one work has been offered for sale. Works by Jack Britten are held by the National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of Western Australia and a further three major public national galleries (see list below).
