Born in Greece in 1902, Vlase Zanalis arrived in Western Australia as a child. He studied under Linton at Perth Technical School and in the 1930s painted murals for several churches. In 1938 he completed a series of paintings depicting workers at the 'West Australian' newspaper and later one of a miner at work in the West Australian goldfields.

We have records of art auction sales by Vlase Zanalis from 1982 and in total 43 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 35 (81%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,950 for Festival of the Rainbow Serpent sold by GFL Fine Art in May 2004. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2022. Works by Vlase Zanalis are held by the National Portrait Gallery.
