Born in Australia in 1890, Eana Jeans arrived in New Zealand in 1894. She studied at the Dunedin School of Art, Barn Studio Dunedin and at Slade School, London in the early 1930s. A watercolourist, she is best known for her bush watercolours and seascapes. Eana Jeans died in 1969 and a retrospective of her work, Landscapes Near and Distant was held at the Marshall Seifert Gallery in Dunedin Central in 1984.
