Born in Victoria in 1871, Evergood studied at the Melbourne National Gallery School, in Europe and the USA. After living overseas for over 30 years he returned to Australia in 1931. On his return he exhibited in Sydney and Melbourne. His son Phillip Evergood is a well known American artist.
