Born Gunter Alfred Henri Schultze in East Berlin in 1947 Germany, Steven Deutscher arrived in Australia as a teenager in 1960. He studied under Hugh Sawrey and Jean Sinelaar in Queensland and Richard Bogusz in Victoria. He paints landscapes and seascapes in oil. He received a major commission from Christopher Skase to create a series of paintings for Mirage Resorts in Queensland.
