About Fiona Lowry
Fiona Lowry was born in 1974 in Sydney. She completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts, Honours, at the Sydney College of the Arts. A contemporary artist she uses conventional acrylic to paint the Australian landscape on canvas but, unconventionally, uses a commercial air-brush to apply the paint. She has held solo exhibitions in Sydney and Adelaide since 2002 and participated in numerous group exhibitions. In 2006 she was awarded the Helen Lempriere Travelling Art Scholarship presented by the New South Wales Government. Amongst the awards from art shows and competitions are the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 2008, the Art Gallery of New South Wales Wynne and Sulman Prizes in 2013, and was a finalist in the Sulman Prize in 2014 as well as winning the 2014 Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize. In 2014 she was also the winner of the Brisbane Tattersalls Club Tattersalls Landscape award.
