George Olszanski (George D'Olszanski-Ronikier) was born in Poland, and studied art in Poland before serving with the British Army in India and Europe during World War II. He later studied at the Royal Academy School in Rome 1945-47 before leaving for Australia in 1948. He first exhibited with the Merioola group in Sydney and later at Clune Galleries and David Jones Gallery. He was art director at David Jones and director of the David Jones Gallery 1950-59. He is best known for his colourful semi-abstract paintings.

Since 1970 we have recorded only one work being sold at auction by this artist, which was in 1989.
