Born in Melbourne in 1926, Dorothy Braund studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne under George Sumner and at the George Bell School during which time she exhibited with the Contemporary Art Society. She furthered her studies in England in he early 1950s and in the later 1950s and 60s visited and worked in Greece, India, Turkey, Iran and the Phillipines. From the time of her first solo exhibition in 1952 she exhibited widely in the eastern states of Australia until her death.
