Robert Doyle worked on cattle stations in Northern Queensland for a few years after leaving school, but eager to pursue his passion for art, he travelled to Victoria to undertake studies at The Art Training Institute of Melbourne. Upon completion of his art studies, Robert returned to Queensland as part owner of a cattle station for several years before taking up a position as a technical illustrator and photographer for national newspapers and magazines. He was commissioned to create a War Memorial Mural at Yeluba west of Brisbane, unveiled by the Queensland Premier. He later settled on the Central Coast of NSW and later established his own studio, 'Stockman's Gallery', at Old Sydney Town in Gosford. He held numerous successful exhibitions in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, received many awards for his artwork.
