A landscape painter Phil Davey was born in England in 1949, and arrived in Australia as a child in 1958. He completed a Bachelor of Education at the State College of Victoria, Rusden and then taught at secondary level for 14 years. He has been artist in residence at Camberwell Grammar School and Ivanhoe Girls Grammar School in Melbourne in 1989-90. In 2003 he was the The Bundanon Trust Artist in Residence. He is a painter, ceramicist, draughtsman and printmaker and has held 33 solo exhibitions mostly in Melbourne since his first solo exhibition there since 1988. His work has also been included in about 15 group shows. In 2009 he completed a course in ceramic studies at Box Hill TAFE, Melbourne.
