Born in Gayndah, Queensland in 1915, Max Boyd studied at the Royal Art Society School with Henry Hanke, Alan Hansen and at the Graham Inson studio in Sydney. He became a professional artist in 1970, setting up a studio on the Gold Coast. He was a member of The Royal Queensland Art Society, Gold Coast Cultural Centre Trust and The City Art Acquisition Society. Principally a landscape painter, he exhibited widely.
