About Desmonde Downing
Born in Sydney in 1920, Desmonde Downing studied at the East Sydney Technical College and at the Julian Ashton School. She was principally a theatrical designer and a large collection of her designs are held in the library of the Sydney Opera House. Desmonde Downing died in 1975 while engaged in the design work for the ABC's production of Ben Hall.
