An Australian Aboriginal painter and designer, Michael Tjakamarra was born in 1948 in the Papunya region of the Northern Territory. He was commissioned to design the large mosaic in new Parliament House, Canberra. He exhibits regularly in Canberra, and since 1988 has exhibited in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and in the USA.
