Otto Boron was born in the former Italian city of Fiume (now Rijeka, Croatia) in 1935 and arrived in Melbourne in late 1959. With a strong interest in drawing from a very young age he joined the National Gallery of Victoria life drawing classes in 1962. In 1967 he was employed by a Melbourne television channel as a scenic artist and continued scenic art work for 18 years. This work prepared the way for the development of his own unique chisel-edged impasto style. He has exhibited in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane since 1973 and in London and Toronto. Art prizes and commendations include: The Omega Contemporary Award, Acquisitive Stanthorpe Regional Gallery Award, Queensland, and twice being awarded the Victorian Artists Society Artist of the Year
