Born in Holland in 1946, Gerda Leenards emigrated to New Zealand with her family in 1956. After working as a draughtswoman and graphic design assistant, she studied at the Elam School of Fine Arts before moving to Wellington where she held her first exhibition in 1981. A contemporary painter and installation artist, she has used her art as a means of protest about environmental matters.
We have records of art auction sales by Gerda Leenards from 1995 and in total 50 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 33 (66%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $11,166 for Deep in the Cove sold by Dunbar Sloane in February 2024. This year one work has been offered for sale.
